American Single

The new American single is not like those in the past. The whole dating scene has changed, some might say for the better, some for the worse, but change it has. We don't go about dating in even the same way as our parents did. The American single has more freedom than once upon a time and a lot more choices. There is nothing expected from the American single, as they can go about molding their own life just as they see fit.

An American Single has a lot of choices

Gone are the days when an American single was pressured into getting married at a tender age. Gone too are the days when every American single was expected to marry the first boy or girl that they dated. Nowadays we can be whatever we desire and take our time with life's important decisions. Maybe a few of the old-timers will give us a little flack about waiting so long, or not yet finding a spouse, and especially about not yet having kids. But, we don't really pay this much heed, one must be respectful of course, but because we know that this is not the predominant opinion of society any longer, it is much easier to simply shrug it off.

Most parents now will push their own children more towards education and career than towards marriage. Marriage is such an important decision to make that most of us now recognize the value of taking one's time before settling down and making that kind of commitment. We are more focused on accumulating wealth before we actually start a family as opposed to while we are. ANd that means putting off a marriage until there is enough financial stability to make sure that all dependents will be provided for. Since their is more of a push towards education, it costs more for parents to raise their children through the college years.

For all of these reasons, and many more of course, it has become perfectly acceptable and encouraged to get ourselves in a better position in our own lives before we take on the responsibility of family.
